Welcome to my new Phrase By Phrase Guitar Method - Diary of a Madman: Randy Rhoads Complete Tutorial
Learn what it really takes to play guitar like Randy Rhoads! This new 2024 installment of the Phrase By Phrase series investigates the lead guitar prowess, earth shaking riffs, rhythm, classical influences and writing skills of the late Randy Rhoads. Researching his work with Ozzy Osbourne, this method explores Randy's style, variation and improvisations on the guitar. As a whole, the viewer will be guided through a learning experience based on popular studio productions, (even comparing alternate takes and edits), concert adaptations, as well as commentary on rare live video footage.
Randy starts with two octave E notes, 6th string open, 5th string 7th fret. Play the 7th fret with your ring finger. Next play A5 by adding your index finger to the 6th string 5th fret, played along with the 5th string 7th fret that you are already holding. Move this power chord shape down 1 fret and add your pinky to the 4th string, 6th fret. This is a G#5 or G# power chord, 6th string 4, 5th string 6, 4th string 6. The count for this intro is 4 & /1. So if you were playing with the drums, you would start counting when the drums play 1-2-3-4&/1
Phrase By Phrase - Randy Rhoads w Ozzy Osborne
Dedicated, with my deepest respect, in memory of Randy Rhoads.
Intro
Welcome to the Phrase By Phrase Guitar Method. In this installment, we take a look at the guitar style of Randy Rhoads. My name is Mark John Sternal, and it is an honor for me to be a part of this issue of the Phrase By Phrase Guitar Method.
In preparation for this video, I researched several different recordings with the intent of giving a well rounded lesson plan that would cover all of the aspects of Randy’s guitar style. In addition to the original albums and the live Tribute album, my main source of reference were the 2011 remastered versions of Blizzard Of Ozz: Expanded Edition and Diary of a Madman: Legacy Editio..
