ST. LOUIS, Missouri — Two teenagers are dead following a freak accident while playing with guns at a St. Louis birthday party, with the tragedy streamed on Instagram Live.
Police are investigating Friday’s incident in which 12-year-old Paris Harvey, accidentally shot her cousin in the head, Kuaron Harvey, 14, before shooting herself.
Police initially described the incident as a murder-suicide. But family members say it’s not the case.
The two teens were live on Instagram at around 2am Friday when a gun that Paris was playing with went off and killed her cousin.
Family members said that after Kuaron was shot, the video showed Paris reaching for the gun and it may have accidentally gone off again.
Both children were shot in the head.
Family members said Paris and Kuaron were more than cousins — they called each other brother and sister.
“It was no murder. It wasn’t a suicide,” said Shinise Harvey, 35, Paris’ mother. “It was a freak accident. It happened.”
